Oh, Canada!

ralphGreeting ya’ll from the great wide north.  I’m halfway through my week long vacation and I’m crossing the border into Canada, which puts me even farther away from the Old Dominion.  But, alas, these crazy Canucks have internet, and I have been following the events of this past weekend online.  Here are my thought on what has been going on. (And I couldn't find a pic of Ralph in the Canadian Mountie uniform big enough, so here he is in front of the US flag).

  1. Spring Game.  I was able to catch 90% of it on ESPN3 on my flight to the west coast.    And it was just like the Hampton practice...and the D.C. practice...and every other practice they have had this spring.  Rocco looked like the man, but didn’t distance himself from the pack.  The RBs and WRs still look shaky behind a improved OL.  The defensive front 7 looked vastly improved, while the secondary is still learning.  All in all, more of the same.
  2. Baseball.  Please someone explain this to me.  How does a team that goes out on Tuesday and throws a perfect game and then wraps up a weekend by utterly destroying VT in three games and DROPS to #2?  I would understand if we squeaked out one or two games and Vandy continued their dominance, but come on?!?! Oh well, we will definitely have a chance to reclaim the top spot with a road trip to Georgia Tech this weekend.  Looking forward to that day one pitching matchup.
  3. Lacrosse.  Can we keep talking about baseball? No. Oh well.  It looks like the Hoos are not ready for prime time this year.  The absolute drubbing they took at home this weekend shows that, for one reason or another, they probably won’t make it to the final four.  They have a chance to redeem themselves this weekend against UNC, but an away Duke game looms after that and the ACC tourney.  The game this weekend against the Heels just turned into a must win.
  4. It looks like the Men’s Tennis team keeps rolling along, which means that all thats left is the ACC tourney and the NCAAs.  The women...ah, they had a nice run, although you can’t fault them to much this weekend.  They have been 1-3 in their last four games, but have played the #3, #4, and #6 team in the country.  This should not really help them come ACC, but it should help come NCAAs.

Well hope every has a great week and we will be back on Monday with our wrap up from everything we missed.
